I have one of these systems, factory fitted and driven by a Databox which is serial numbered /40 thus allowing Dataline X & Simrad IS11 displays to be mixed (which I have).

This year I replaced the Stowe speed transducer with an Airmar, which has a 'seavalve' to reduce water ingress when pulling the transducer.

It all works well, except the speed reading is quite - erm - 'optimistic', which is good for morale, but I would like it to read correctly.

I have all the relevant manuals (generously PDF-ed by other forumites), and the Fault Finding sections recommend "Calibrate the Speed Transducer (using another instrument)". Neither the SDX head, nor any of the other display heads (Wind, Nav & Central) has log speed calibration facilities in its Menu. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Has anyone successfully carried out a speed recalibration? Does it have to be performed inside the Databox itself, and if so, how?

All advice gratefully received.

See section 4.9.4 of SDX manual PAGE 30, which gives method to manually calibrate the Log Transducer. ie press Speed & Log buttons together for 3 sec, to get "LIte". press log 7 times to get "Cal Log". press Depth to enter value. Use Speed or Log to change value in 2.5% steps up/down.

Press * twice.

You need to idea of how over reading log is. ie motor in flat water and compare with GPS SOG.
