I have an EVO3 system, connected to all the usual inputs (radar, echosounder, plotter, engine instruments, trims). Without anything running – i.e. radar is off, engine is off – the display makes random beeps of various pitches. There is no accompanying alarm message (I’ve disabled all alarms) and no change to the display – everything is fully functional, apart from these damn beeps that are, to say the least, annoying. Does anyone have any clues please? Thank you.

Do you have any waypoints set? Failing that a low voltage alarm or a connection/low voltage problem somewhere. I had a spurious alarm problem on mine when I first got it, turned out to be the blue and yellow wires in the power cable occasionally making contact.

Thanks Jamie. I’m off the boat now so I’m not sure about waypoints. I’ll check, but the beeps are random and different. Sometimes a double beep; sometimes single. Sometimes a random stream of different pitches! Sometimes it will be quiet for a minute or two and I think it’s cleared, but then they return. I’m not going mad - the long-haired admiral has heard them too! It’s all very odd.

Thanks Jamie. I’m off the boat now and won‘t be able to check for a while. It’s a very good point though, because the Fish ID notification isn‘t an alarm as such (at least not as I see it) as otherwise all the beeps would be recorded in the alarm history, and they’re not (and I have disabled all the alarms in any event). I’ll take a look next time and I will also conduct a software upgrade. Thanks again.
