I need to have the internal memory battery on my Simrad CR44 chart plotter replaced over the winter. It uses CMap NT+ charts. To retain all the waypoint and course data that I have built up over eight years I understand that I need to use a Simrad Data Card to download the information and then reload it when the battery is replaced. But, guess what, Simrad have told the dealer that as the plotter is an obsolete model they do not have any such data cards!! Does anyone know of a source or is there an alternative solution?
Fair winds to all.

Would this be the one?

Looks expensive.

This is known as mixed emotions! Yes, it looks like what I need - thank you for finding it. Your help is much appreciated. But......How Much?!!!!! I will call them tomorrow and see if there is an alternative but I suspect that I already know the answer.
Fair winds.

David, my CR44 just died, and come to find out that this is fairly common with that unit. My dealer indicated that he has 3 other customers in a similar situation. In looking for a solution, I searched for a monitor that would work with my array which is a 4kw 4' open made by Koden. The rep at Koden I spoke with used to work at Simrad and did so when they decided to stop production of the CR44/54. According to this technical rep rather than bother to continue to support the product that they had sold, including units that were still under warranty, they decided it would be cheaper to toss all spare parts and take the loss. He said he was there when two dumpsters were filled up with inventory, including presumably the parts needed to fix my unit. If you ask Simrad about spare parts, their line is that the unit, which I purchased in 2006 is now 'obsolete' so of course they don't have any spare parts. You can get a 20 year old Furuno serviced worldwide, so that is of course a lot of bull hockey. I thought Simrad was a company with a good reputation, but that's hard to credit now. Hope yours continues to work for you, but I would be careful what you spend on it.
