Hi,i wonder if any of you learned people out there could give me some advice on how to navigate up a river in the dark using only my chartploter which is a simrad CE33,there is a navigate by track feature but i just can't seem to get to grips with it, i am thinking of buying a c map nt+ cartridge that will fit the plotter but will this benefit me in any way??

Your post gives the impression that you don't yet have a chart cartridge in your chartplotter. Is this right? If so, get a chart cartridge, then set up a load of waypoints along the river, then make a route using those waypoints. The route will then enable you to navigate along the river in the dark (although you should obviously be on the lookout for hazards, and a searchlight would be an advantage).

Many thanks, the chartplotter has a navigate by waypoint feature but i thought there may be an easier way,the navigate by track feature is a better system than by waypoint but with so many twists and turns in the river it still does'nt seem accurate enough??

You can make the track more accurate by reducing the interval between trackpoints - either to the minimum distance or the minimum time the CE33 offers. This will create a track which more closely follows your actual course on the river. Save this new track and you can then use it to navigate from.
