Hi all, hope someone can help.
T
Was at anchor yesterday for a few hours, went to lift the anchor but all I got was a whining noise when up button pressed!

Pressed the down button and about 300mm of chain came out, then pressed the up switch and 300mm came up the stopped.

Battery is fine so guess the problem is in the windlass.

Any help / advice appreciated

probably duff connection either in the contactor box or stuck brushes in the motor or carp in the commutator on the motor armature - if the battery is OK.

I had a similar problem with my SL windlass when it decided enough was enough. Turned out to be seized bearing on the main drive shaft. - comes with age;)

SLS are very good and rebuilt my Simpson Lawrence when I was sure (having taken it apart) that it was a bin job. Excellent service, much cheaper than a replacement, and you won't find another with the same footprint anyway so a replacement will mean chopping the deck to make it fit.

Sounds like the best option, will give them a call for a quote
