A Silverstorm random orbital sander is only £35.88 from Toolstation. A little less than a Silverline sander - polisher and you can find it below £30 if you look around

A random orbital sander does a far better job-I tried both.
However be very careful in choosing the sander. The first one I bought was a BandQ Proline branded one.
Little did I realise that there was no sealing system between the underside of the pad through which the dust is extracted and the bearing.
After barely a days use the bearing seized.
I have had had similar problems with other shop branded products.

Thanks for that, I should have been more explicit. I have a Silverline sander/ polisher already and hoped that it would do...
