Silver Pearl

Lovely to see Silver Pearl again - believe she was bought new and fitted out by a chap in our club (Marconi) - he later moved on to an equally nice deep fin Sadler 34 which he finished his sailing days with.

Last time I saw her some years ago in Brightlingsea she didn't have the Sadler stripes but looked in very good condition - I told him and he was delighted to know she was still going strong - he had very fond memories of her - she still looks good.

Hi Crowblack, we’ve been looking after her since 2011. The previous owner eventually put the stripes back on before we bought her. She’s a little sweetie and always looks after us, no matter my own misdemeanours.

I’ve had a couple of people tell me that they know the original owner (and builder). I believe she got her name because when he bought the hull it was his silver wedding year, and when she finally launched it was his pearl wedding year. I tried to get word to him last year that we’d be very happy to have him on board for a sail down memory... erm... swatchway if he fancied it but I don’t know if he ever received the message. Of course, the offer still stands.
