I'm looking for a simple cheap and reliable VHF to replace my trusty old Kelvin Hughes which doesn't seem to be so trusty any more. The Silva S10 seems to fit the bill. Anyone got any experience with it or any better ideas?

I have this model fitted to my sadler and she performs very well for what I need her for. Ive linked it to my garmin hand held GPS for DSC positioning.
easy to install and operate. i like it.

Did the recall, very good service. The recall was for the early sets (serial number included in recall notice) they deliver by courier and take old set back, (job done).
Seem to do what there so posed to do. I have had no problems with, trans or receaving.
The menu functions take a bit of getting use too but with practice seems good. Nice large display, easy to read as well.
Does not have the over the top functions, as in fog horn, and pa stuff but I never used them on the old one, (always opted for the, on deck stance).
Its a can of beens, it does what it says on the tin.

A major benefit is the size of the screen relative to the unit itself. Better than most of the others! It is also very user friendly - better than other sets I could name - I use the S10 for training during the SRC course.
