Have discovered some teak decking lifting , a practical suggestion has been offered to carefully lift the de-bonded decking , clean and dry then re-bond using sika flex .
two questions I’m sure there will be some good practical suggestions . The teak deck is bonded with no screw fixings
1) is this a practical suggestion , are there any further practical suggestions
2) which type of sika flex , there appears to be a few for different applications.
I look forward to the responses
Chris

A polyurethane bedding compound, such as Sikaflex 298, would normally be used to attach the teak to a GRP deck.
Difficult to give advice on the suggested method without more information. Can you easily distinguish the planks that have lost the bond from those that are still attached? How would the affected part of the deck be separated from the part that shall be left intact?

I had a loose area of deck on my Corvette. I allowed the deck to become thoroughly dry (late May weather) I drilled several tiny holes into the deck through the seam lines where the deck was loose, I then mixed up some resin and used a small syringe to inject this into the holes, until each neighbouring hole showed the injected resin rising.

When I walk tested 48 hours later the problem was resolved, and never returned. I used some black mastic to close off the holes, and they were virtually indistinguishable along the caulk lines.

Thanks both , helpful as always , the narrow plank that has lifted is a single and separated from the adjoining plank , I have found an old tool in the tool box I made some 50 years ago as an apprentice joiner , sometimes referred to a a old women‘s tooth , now I’ve sharpened it up will be useful in cleaning out the black corking and increasing the depth of the grove without increasing the width before applying new corking.
having trouble in sourcing sikaflex 298 , is there an alternative

Force 4 , sell Sikaflex 291i , from reading the data sheet , this maybe a suitable alternative , anyone have any experience of using this to re bond teak decking

They were most probably glued down by the factory with epoxy. I’d use that. Sikaflex is usually used as a sealant, for caulking. They do adhesive products, which should work too. 3m 5200 will do it, just don’t plan on pulling it off. Ever.

I've had success with thickened epoxy (West System 2 part in a tube) to stick down loosed ends of planks - using a heavy weight separated by paper to hold plank down - if the paper comes in contact with the epoxy can easily peel/scrape off. Allow 24 hrs to dry then use Silka to make good the caulking.

Bedding and caulking are two separate parts of the process and normally requiring two different products. Whether 291i could replace a proper bedding compound such as 298 I am unsure of, I do not think it would be a good substitute for a deck caulk like 290.
Perhaps I have misunderstood your plans…
