We plan to leave Schengen Spain in September and spend a month in Morocco. Am I right to think that Cadiz is a port of entry? Can i organise thdt at the Cafiz marina? If not can I sign out at the gibraltar border?
Thanks

Hi
The purpose of signing out is to stop the Schengen clock. Vat is not my problem as we are going to Morocco which restarts my VAT clock. My understanding is that the proposed changes for Gibraltar have not been put into practice yet?

It seems incredibly difficult on google to find ports of entry. Out of curiosity, I just tried and failed.

So nobody knows if I can sign out of Cadiz then?
Yes you can. Go to customs and imm8gration at the cruise ship dock, 15 minute or so walk from the first marina when you go into the harbour.

Very nice food in marina bar! Good showers too. Long walk to shops, taxi back recommended.

It is still wise to check out with customs so that you an show you have left the EU before returning.

At the border building?

Yes. I also got a form from Marina Alcaidesa to present at the border, confirming that I was effectively a yacht in transit and about to leave. I can’t remember the title of the form but it as proffered by the marina staff.

Friends also checked out from La Linea, but were ushered into a back office to do so whereas we managed it from the front desk. I guess it might depend on who’s on duty…

Hi
Does anyone know if this is still possible with the recent border changes at Gibraltar. I assume this hasn't been implemented yet but I don't know

I’m afraid I don’t know the answer to that but if the new rules have already been implemented, I wonder if you could check out from Gib’? If so, I wonder if that would be through Gib’ customs or Spanish operating in Gib’?

That's really useful to know. I never had to clear out from there but used the marina a lot and found the office staff to be excellent.

The latest info I’ve seen, is that there is currently no legal text and that the changes still need to be incorporated into Gibraltar law with this expected to happen later this year, with the changes being implemented in 2026.
