Can anyone offer advice as to a replacement prop for a Sigma 362. Having had trouble with a folding blade prop (approx.19inch) I'm considering replacement with a fixed 2 blade. I have had various calculations done and they all differ; 18x9, 16x11 orr 17x 13. It seems some calculation may have been done on what prop is in stock! The Gori calculation on the Sigma 362 website mentions a 16.5x13. Has anyone had any experience of a prop change on a Sigma 362.

Hi,
If you ring the gori agents in uk they will work out the correct prop.
You will need to tell them
Engine and HP
Gearbox, Ratios and spin direction in ahead,
Shaft dia
Shaft taper.

I have a Sigma 362 and have Gori folding 2 blade 16.5"x13" RH spun by Beta 28hp through TMC gearbox , as on previous gori prop ( on Volvo LH ) very happy with them , loads of grunt etc.

Probably a good idea to ask on the Sigma 362 Owners Group website as you stand a better chance of getting relevant advice.

In principle the prop needs to be as big diameter as you can swing. The 16.5 or 17" sounds about right. The exact pitch will depend on the reduction ratio of your box and the blade area of the prop. A fixed prop may not be exactly the same as for a folder. Try your data in Propcalc on www.castlemarine co uk which is usually pretty good on sailboat props.

When you come to buy, though, provide your supplier with the data and take his recommendation as you will have some comeback if it is wrong. If you decide the size and get it wrong you are responsible.

My 362 has a 2 bladed folding prop, been on for 14 years to my knowledge. It says on it 18 x 9, LH. Still on the original VP2003 engine, don't have any details of the gearbox to hand. Seems to suit the boat and engine well.
