Side Shift bow thrusters

Been trawling the interweb and have come across bow thrusters which are fitted externally - as opposed to the traditional tunnel thrusters.
Has anyone come across this type of thruster, and if so what are your thoughts?

Yes I've seen a similar type fitted on a boat in Mallorca. I don't know if I like the idea. I would wan't a 5 year warrenty at least.
I thinkl it would be my last resort.
