Hello,

Apologies for my incessant random posts...

I am after a vector/decent sized line art drawing of a yacht that looks at least a little similar to a Contessa, from side on with head and mainsails up. If anyone has any yacht design software and were able to knock one up... Or if they have any pictures laying about the place on their PCs I'd be most appreciative!

If you get very stuck, there is one way to generate this. I made a line art of my previous boat, Silver Lady last year using a vector software package. Took me a while but I was able to get a result that was usable and scalable. Would take me about 10 hours work to do something similar again.

Well my line drawing took me ten hours, and I've it in vector format. This means it's totally scalable and exportable etc. That's the best way I know to have it as I can reproduce that picture to any scale I could wish for and keep all the quality.

The original photo needs to be as high a quality and decent a contrast as possible for the best results however.

Recommended software if you wanted to try it for yourself is Microsoft Acrylic (what I used) and paintshop pro for the photo altering to get the contrast if you need to alter it. Or photoshop of course. You *may* be able to perform this in photoshop alone however I'm not a graphics expert at all, I was just a little excited about buying Silver Lady at the time and this was my therapy LOL. Got to do one of Dream Finder yet.

Would this do?

Send me a photo I've got vectorising software.

hey - yes, i mean if you were able to turn that into a vector... that would be perfect, and i'd owe you a beer or two if you lived anywhere near berlin or southampton for the trouble /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Do you mean that very picture, if you've got a suitable picture to vectorise I could do that instead.
What file format were you thinking of? and/or what were you using it for?

Yes but what file format? and I will need your email address.
I've tried digitising it with my program it's not great the keel doesn't come out. I would suggest you copy the pic into a drawing program and manually trace it.
