Boo hoo

Two years looking for a Colvic countess 33BK... found a corker... bought it Jan.... shipped to N.Wales for strip & bottom sheath... parked next to a Sadler.... which went up in flames & so did GG. Iniitial reports say it will be a total loss.

Anyone thinking of selling a 33 BK later this year give me a shout... hopefully the insurance will cover the bulk of my losses.

I'm REALLY ticked off. I never even got to sail her! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

OK, so you went down the pub with your neigbour, both musing over the recent problems you have found on your boats and the high cost of maintenance and how you would be better off spending your money on beer... Then, next thing you know, both boats burn down!

The insurance cheques will bring a smile back to your face and who knows, boat prices may have dropped by the time you get it!

Just kidding, hope it all goes well and you both find excellent new boats in future....... /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

True - Anyway, if there's anyone working on battery connections prior to cleaning petrol out in their bilges in Sant Carles, there's a space free next to my boat!

Hold on, need to get the leaking tender, seized outboard and SWMBO below deck first! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Less levity - Must be heart wrenching to see your pride and joy in that state! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

That is a real sickener.
Be on guard for the insurers trying to down-value the boat due to market conditions!

On the other hand you may benefit from the very same thing when you come to buy /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

We had exactly the same in 2004.
We had the boat 9 months and the neighbours boat went up in flames. Ours was total loss. The insurance paid us the sum we bought the boat for but the loving and caring is gone. It made us cry. I know how you feel, difficult to describe though.
I takes time to get over it and we are now very happy with the boat we bought in August 2004!
I don't know Sadler, but if it is GRP, the structure will probably be damaged by the heat. If the insurance says it can be repaired, make sure to get a surveyor to confirm this!

Your boat and any uninsured loss on your part will be covered by the other owners insurance - his fire was the cause of yours! You won't even have to pay an excess.
