I have been twice this year, Monday to stop my son spending too much, and today to stop Richard doing the same.

But one thing soon becam very apparent to me. I didn't need to worry about the cost of things, only how heavy they were!

You see women become invisible in male dominated activities; I can wander around car show rooms and not be seen, and today I was wandering round the various stands in the same unseen manner. Asking a question of anybody on the stand usually ended up with the guy looking for a man to tell the response to.

I COULD have helped myself to all manner of things; but I didn't. Mainly because we bought them all last year /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

So another annual pilgrimage over. The only redeeming feature was that at the YBW.COM stand I met Powerskipper, Keith Walker, and would you believe it? CG1!!! Yes folks, I can confirm that CG1 is a very nice guy, looks perfectly normal, and seems to be good company. He does, however have a penchant for winding folk up somewhat. But Julie knows how to keep him in check, when Mrs CG1 isn't around!!

So at least we met some more of that esteemed bunch of peeps, the YBW Forumites /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

woops! Sorry Keith. Had a blonde moment then.

Actually HWMBO got the names muddled up.

As usual.

My mistake is believing him /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

At the risk of being an old bore, not worth it! Perhaps this year I don`t have any winter projects planned for the boat like new sails, engine, electrics etc. I feel the SBS fuels discontent. We are perfectly happy with our "near classic" old tub, moored at a family boayard etc, and all paid for yet the SBS talks about starter cruisers for 2-3 times what ours is worth. Do we want to saddle ourselves with a large loan of several £10K just to have another 3 ft of boat to park! The best bit of the show on sunday was to see a classic ketch ? Hilyard or similar sail past sporting it`s tan sails alongside all the gloss. Perhaps I have a chip on my shoulder that SWBO diverted the money I had to swap our MAB for an AWB to a house extention but I am always glad to get back to the yard and guddle in some good old Portsmouth mud!

The other person, I was assured by no less an authority than Powerskipper herself, is the (in)famous GC1.

'Course, it might not have been the real Powerskipper /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

But she was very nice, and has sent a response to this thread, so I think they were all real peeps.

And very nice ones too /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Whats "guddling"? Sounds very bucolic. Like something out of "Round the Horn".

" He guddled my wumple, so I splarged his prut! " Arrrrrh.
