Sorry about the double posting for those that frequent Scuttlebutt, but it was suggested I might try here as well.

Tomorrow, my new boat, an RM880, is being put into the SIBS exhibition area straight from the factory transporter. Not being very good at containing the excitement, I'm really really keen (ok, ok, desparate) to take a look at "Hawana" and take some photos to plan for additional equipment etc. The site rules state that I need to be accompanied by an exhibitor/contractor. The problem is that I can only get down on either Saturday or Sunday and the dealer does not have any staff around over the weekend.

Are there any people who will be around in the SIBS exhibition area over the weekend that would be willing to escort me to my boat for 10 mins or so to take some pictures??

Would be happy to compensate for inconvenience eg. some beverages

When my new boat was put into SIBS some 5 years ago the builder made me an exhibitor as it was my boat that they were exhibiting. My wife and I walked around at will for a day and then again on the final day when I took it home.
If you are paying the sort of money for a new boat, that no matter how they look after it, will always leave the show with superficial damage. I feel they are taking you for a ride

I am bursting with excitement about seeing your new boat as well! I am a huge fan of the Cranchi 47HT (a very small yet exclusive club /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif)....yours has a lot to live up to! And she does just seem massive!

There will be no need for introductions, I will be the one drooling and blubbering with utterings like ''please let me have one'', ''but I want one'', ''all my friends on the forum have got one'', and SWMBO will be the one with a vice like grip on the cheque book.

Let me see if I have this right... The dealer is using YOUR boat at a boat show, where people will be jumping on board, making a mess etc... and the lousy fecker won't even give you a badge?? What am I missing?
 
My training course finished early so I bombed down to SIBS this afternoon. I knew that the dealer guys were working today as the boat was being delivered, so I phoned them up and arranged for them to meet me at the gate to bring me in. However, after a little chat with the security chap, he saw how eager I was to see my own boat and just let me in. Nice to know there is some humanity in people doing supposedly officious jobs, so a big thank you to mister security guard.

Lots of work going on and when I left at 6 the dealer people will still busy. No wonder they are going to take a weekend break before 14 days of continuous working!!!

In response to the criticisms of the Dealer, they will be giving me tickets to get in to the boat show itself. I was just too excited to wait for then and wanted to take a peek before the show start. They simply let me show myself around as they really did have a lot of work on.
 
I still think they could have issued you with a trade pass. I and a friend had one for LBS when my boat was there.

It was only luck that you got in - seems absurd to me that they did not issue the pass and not just two tickets for the show itself.
 
Our boat was used at the same show as Gludy's, and we were given trade passes, and then we also got passes for SIBS the following year (we offered to talk to prospective buyers if required). Makes life very easy at SIBS does an exhibitor pass.

They can do them quite quickly, so I'd ask for one if I were you.
