I am sure this was ked recntly but I can't find the thread !!

I am in Portsmouth and thinking of going round to SIBS next Saturday on the boat. Has anyone gone to SIBS by boat before and can pass on Do's and Dont's et ?? Many thanks.

I don't really want to sound flippant but not knowing what SIBS is I googled it and came up with "sexually inappropriate behaviour service".

AFAIK there is no mooring in the show so you will have to get a berth in Town Quay or Ocean Village and walk.

Train or car is better. Walking distance from station or car park just across the road.

Lots of possibilities ...depends how tight-fisted and/or energetic you are. Anchor on the East side of Southampton Water and walk, or at Hythe and take the ferry. Possibilities in the Itchen. A popular option is the IOW and Redjet ferry.

Seawork rather than SIBS

I didnt attend SIBS last year, but we did have a nice sail from Gosport round to Southampton in June to visit the Seawork show (which is in the commercial dock north of Mayflower Park).
We spent a night at Ocean Village, which cost GBP 25 for a 37' boat.
It was a fair old trek to Seawork from Ocean Village, but probably only about 10 - 15 mins to Mayflower Park.
It would probably have worked out cheaper in the long run if I had just hopped on the train, as only I went to Seawork. But if more than one of you is going, then let the boat have the fun, rather than allowing the train to take the strain.......
Altho' Ocean Village would probably be busier now than when Seawork was on.
