We visited SIBS on Tuesday & Wednesday and as I sit here writing this I find it hard to explain the athmosphere. It was different to previous shows with a distinct lack of buzz about the place.
We started by having a look at the Absolute 52. Ocean Nautics stand was quiet but the boss was happy as he had deposits safely in the bank.
We met Powerskipper there and we had a bit of a laugh having a chat about boats and the forum personalities /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
The ABS52 is very nice and has all the toys...
Even if the cups of tea are on the small size /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Nice comfy helm and nav seats. Very handy off The Calf in wind over tide /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I had better drop the camera as the sales guys are putting MrsSV under pressure...
We left Ocean Nautic as the 52 was getting a bit crowded with potential clients. I heard one guy was on his second viewing and he seemed keen. It was time to let Nautical do his thing /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Next stop was the Rodman Muse 54. This one didn't do it for us and we were shocked to see that the drawers & cabinets had no catches to hold them closed.. I feel that they would open and close if she starts rocking at anchor. I believe that these are very sturdy boats but I feel that thy are trying to hard with the funky styling.
Master cabin...
Next we thought we'd hae a look at the Sealine SC47 but as we stopped at the stand a group of 5 sales staff stood gawping at MrsSV making her feel very un-comfortable - we walked. Very un-professional guys /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
We gave Fairline a miss due to lack of interest from Fairline Ireland (just like Princess Ireland last year) /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
We then popped over to Sunseeker Ireland and had a look around some of the model on display. I must say thet these guys had plenty of time for us again this year. I was very surprised to hear the lengths that SS go to with customising production boats and you don't have to be buying at Magnum's level to avail of this.
Predator 52:
Is this Stelio's new toy /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
and our favourite, Manhattan 70...
We enjoyed the show even if some of the stands were eerily quiet - Atlantis & Cruiser spring to mind.
My favourite boat goes to the Fleming 55. MrsSV gives it to the Manhattan 70.
Lucky we can remain friends as both are way beyond our means /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
