A few negatives (just looking at the images in the link)....
Single helm seat
Not sure the saloon layout ticks comfy box
Also not sure of the aft galley idea
Although fly is not important, if we buy one I'd prefer it to be more enclosed aft for a bit more privacy when sunbathing (if this is possible)

I see the third cabin can be specified as storage which is a good idea I suppose but as it's mainly the two of us we normally store our bags on the second cabin bed.

Personally, I think the Oyster 43 is more or less the perfect layout but my SO doesn't like the "old fashioned" look. The same comment bay befall the Hardy 42. Saying that she is not a fan of the Sealine F42/F450 either :)

Would have to agree with your 'Marmite' comment on looks. I nearly didn't bother to go on board as it's so similar to the Oyster at first sight. It's a semi displacement boat after all.

The Oyster version is ridiculous, it was built for rich ex sailors on the U.S. east coast. It doesn't do any of the things it was designed for and has nothing going for it in comparison to this Azimut. It is also bloody dangerous for any crew on the side decks!

The reason I remarked about this boat was because it surprised me so much. It wasn't what I expected and if you get there, just take a look and you might see what I mean. :encouragement:

The pics don't do it justice, the third cabin is twice the size it looks, yes really.
I don't like high level galleys either but in this case, it works quite well.
Single helm seat... I have a bench that will sit three on it but usually, I usually sit there alone, guests sit on the other two bench seats. This single seat is right next to main seating area.
Privacy for sun bathing is upstairs, the rear half of the flybridge is an enclosed sun deck and very roomy. Also take a walk out on the foredeck, major space and a safe walk too.
Internal space and finish, excellent and up market.

I still prefer their other line of boats personally but if I was looking to cruise at 12-15 knots, this would def. be on my short list.:o

Used boats on our list are Sealine F42/5 or F420, Princess 42, Fairline Phantom 40, Jeanneau Prestige 42 or 46 (heard good things about Cummins engines).

I have had a Princess 42 for a couple of years and the build quality is second to none, everything is perfectly labelled so very easy to work on, just ticks every box for me, well worth a look.
 
I really do think that the prestige 450 is a great boat based on your statement of requirements but I bet the P43 will blow the others away in terms of the finish, was very impressed with it at last years SiIBS.

What about Bavaria 42 fly ?

Anyhow, appointments made for today and tomorrow. Leaving in an hour assuming my wife is finished her operations upstairs :)
A quick stop to visit friends on the way should see us park at hotel around 11am and into the show for 12.

Bavaria 42 Fly, looked very good value. The transom arrangement is very clever and the use of space excellent, massive usable flybridge too.

The whole range is greatly improved from the Bav's of 5-6 years ago.

No, it's not in the same league as the obvious but I thought is was more than comparable to Sealine, Jeanneau & Beneteau.:encouragement:

We were there yesterday. Our guy was busy with viewings when we phoned so we just visited the stand and the girls arranged a drink and introduced us to the nice young Essex man. He showed us the Squadron 42 and the Targa 48 and this is where the fun started. My wife loves the 42 and me the 48 with our guy clearly guiding us towards the larger boat.

I meant to mention that I think the barrier system is a bit off putting to be honest. We were chatting last night about the different stands and my wife, who is a very down to earth person, felt the Fairline barriers are a tad "them and us" or "exclusive". We just can't put our finger on it but the barrier to us just doesn't feel right.

It didn't stop us visiting but perhaps Fairline should consider that it might be the cause of casual visitors simply walking past or perhaps this is the intention ie. appointments only ?

Saying that, everybody we met on the stand were super friendly and our man is a very funny guy ;)
