The saga continues, found that we were using Dove shower gel with moisturiser, this left a residue that can only be described as white lard! it gummed everything. changed to Imperial Leather and thought prob. would be over but no.same thing.looked on label said "nourishing"!Now going back to bog standard shower gel.Thought I would let forum know as its a b***ard to get rid of, wonder what its done to pipework.

Not sure if the problem is only with Dove type soaps. I think it's the same problem that washing machines get when only 40 degree washing is done. Every now and again it's recommended that a really hot wash is done to dissolve the 'soap sludge'
In the same way it might be a good idea to (when you're out of the shower) to run really hot water down the shower drain to finish off. My guess is you won't get a build up of sludge.

In the case of houghn's reply replace "really hot" with "really cold"
