Should yachting take you out of your comfort zone?

Probably should go and read post 111 on this thread then. Dementia? Letting someone else use your account? Or just argued yourself in circles?
I said & I quote:-
"If it was then I would describe them as bunch of whimps". "Would", being the operative word. But I did not have to use it
It related to a private event with my friends & in the end we decided that the boat in question had to buy the first round in the bar- Which they did graciously. No question of comfort zones. (Lots of derogatory comments perhaps.)

Resulting in -- "OK, what's yours then? Put thos b..y pics away we have seen enough"
'
Sounds to me as if you know all about hitting the comfort zone & need some training days

There are no gentlemen around here then. The wind always blows either up or down the Solent, so just pick whether your windward sailing is at the beginning or end of your trip.
Before we started cruising I knew nothing about the East Coast but bought some Stanford’s charts. It was obvious that all the channels were orientated NE/SW, the two prevailing winds, and whatever else I chose to sail in, it had to be capable of getting me to windward.

Having said that, the wind is going SE this week. That’s a rare opportunity.

Update. It started off NE, then went SE only for an hour, while we were sailing from Cowes to Fishbourne. On the way home it was westerly, then nothing, then fairly brisk WSW. Ie we were hard on the wind all day. So if sailing to windward is not your thing, then definitely outside your comfort zone.
