Should please Apollo !

Do you seriously think £35 p.a. is going to make a blind bit of difference to a club whose boat is used, say three days a week and shared between ten to twenty boats?

£0.60p per week...

Get a grip man!!

Perhaps its more about the principle of it costing anything than the actual sum involved?

If everything was free how would the associated costs be paid for?

Don't get stressed. My understanding is that this is purely a British Rowing internal apportionment of charges and may not actually result in the EA receiving any additional income...... so that's ok then !

Hmmmm.....as a charity I am not very happy that rescue launches now have to pay £35.

We'll just pass it on to the organisers but it is another barrier to these events having decent levels of safety cover and marshalling. :(

I,ve got a 30ft rescue boat:D

Indeed. I heard it is pretty much just another way to sqeeze money out of the rowing community, in order to finance the equipment for the London 2012 crews.
But then again, maybe I'm just cynical of the British Rowing's workings.
On the bright side, at least your river licenses go towards the general upkeep of the river, if not your stretch than at least something on the Thames.

Most of our Amateur Rowing Association membership money this year is going towards the Olympics, and considering that the Rowing is on Dorney Lake, the only contribution our money is making on the river this year is going towards the "Warm-Up" area on the stretch near Dorney. Maybe you guys should count yourselves lucky that although the Olympics might inconvenience you in your usual boating, at least you haven't had to pay for the shiny new boats our glorious rowing team will be racing in (Boats that cost from £8k to £32k commercially, depending on size).
