Should KAD engine not be run continuously in the supercharger range?

New CAT C12.9 has supercharger, I read this motor designed by FPT.

Superchargers are very popular (though mostly over the Pond) also for petrol speedboats.
Before introducing their twin turboed 1500+ hp beast, all Mercury Racing engines were ONLY supercharged, with the exception of the 525 which was NA.

Superchargers on petrols give a nice linear power curve on petrol engines. I'm sure they have their place on diesels too, although you can probably create a similar effect with sequential turbos.
