Sorry, but I think I may be getting too practical for this Mobo lark. I got bored with the rock hard foam mattress on board, so I bought a standard double sprung mattress at the weekend, gutted it and attacked the springs with a pair of wire cutters. It's now reshaped to fit the bed, recovered and installed. Bloody luxury!

All that in one day's work, as well!

I'll wager it doesn't come up to SOLAS (Safety Of Lives At Sleep) standards and you haven't fitted the correct broken spring detection equipment.
Your cavalier attitude to off watch activities appalls me and no prudent mariner would do this.

Brilliant idea /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Did you take any photos, we need a step by step account /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Dare we ask just how you acquired this skill of ' Mattress stuffing ' , I hope you didnt leave any biscuit crumbs in there that might attract the attention of sniffer dogs /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

. How did I acquire the skill? Well, I have a remarkable belief in my own ability to do anything, so I just bought a mattress and attacked it. Worst case was I end up taking a brand new but trashed mattress to the tip. I am quite good at taking brand new but trashed things to the tip.

Shaping the spring bit wasn't too bad but the tricky bit was modifying the fabric casing. All up, I reckon I could knock them out for about £350, or £450 if you want a quilted top (well worth it - I tested the mattress with and without). Carriage could be challenging!

Hope not, its still in the living room!

Excellent idea. We've got a sprung mattress on our boat and it's so much more comfy and less sweaty than a foam one

Excellent! Looks just like a real one.

I'm a llittle bit surprised that it's not upholstered in leather though. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That first cut must have been worrying. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I think that the only reason to banish you to PBO is if you now started going on about how you were going to build the new boat around your mattress /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Living room? No, that's the saloon. I know the bio says it's an F37, but I decided to extend it some while ago using old egg boxes, washing up liquid bottles and sticky back plastic (I got the idea from Bayliner /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif). The cat is a cardboard cut-out, BTW
