Up to last season I've just buffed up my bronze 2 bladed folder and there's been little fouling.

Last season though, even after scrubbing off every couple of months the prop blades were heavily infested with barnacles;the shaft too.

Due to similar experiences on colleague has decided to paint his prop this year with International something,or other (T**lix?) and a chandler has suggested Propshield(lanolin based and a hot topic amongst forumites I seem to recall).

Do you think that putting anything on the prop. is going to be worthwhile?

I have used this for the last 5 years and works better than anything, I guess it is the graphite in the formula that the barnacles dont like??? at only £3 per tube worth a try for the season.

Stovax Traditional Graphite Black Grate Polish
(Zebrite replacement)

I think you mean Trilux. I use it on the saildrive leg, and lanolin on the prop, with mixed success. Starboard's suggestion sounds interesting.

I used propguard last season and the barnies came off with a scrub using wire wool and scotchbriete and a little bit of bathroom descaler.

Have Hot Spopt grate polish in cupbaord for wood burner, it contains graphite, might be worth a try.

At least we will have a shiney black prop !!!.

Thanks folks, the consensus is 'Do it' it seems.

I think as we launch Tuesday that I shall get a tube of the stuff 'Starboard' uses. The price is right for an experiment.

Many thanks
