Should boats be allowed to do this to a (wo)man

Off down the boat for the first time in a couple of weeks this weekend and whilst I won't be taking her out for a spin, it's only to fit a few things and check her over, I am weirdly quite excited about the prospect of just being on the boat even though it's stupidly cold still. really ought to have a health warning this boating malarkey.

I was down last weekend - snow on the pontoons but bed was warm as toast with the electric blanket on - overhead escape hatch screen was open so I could look @ the stars and dream off summer ah.

Anyway we are down in Trowbridge for the weekend - but may have to do a detour en route tomorrow evening to check that the engines are nice and cosy :):)

oGaryo we need to organise another solent get together for next month as it has been too long since the last one - My suggestions are as follows:- Cowes - Folley Inn, Lymington - Curry or Yarmouth - Salty's ;)

Cheap berths also this time off year for a rally...

You haven't got it bad yet....

Mine is in the shed for the winter and I still enjoy going down to work on her. I even stay overnight.... Now that really is sad....... But who cares.

Counting the weeks until she is floating again and then off on my travels.

Tom

PS. I'm staying on a boat this weekend that has water under it, although we won't be out enjoying the water we will be doing some winter maintenance. :-) still good fun.......well I think it is.

i'll be at ocean quay, pop up and say hello if you want to see the marina. You need a code for the gate, pm me if needed

Was out with a client yesterday could not feel me feet after a couple of hours despite two pairs of thick socks, has been flatter than a flat thing lately and some great evenings for night nav so get out there and enjoy but just make sure you have your thermals on.
I prefer teaching indoors at the moment must be getting old.
ROY drinking in Pier View around 2100 tonight if you are about.

One beautiful winters day when we kept our boat on Windermere I was having a really bad day at work so just walked out, got in the car and drove from York to the boat. It was almost when I arrived and the pontoon and boat were icy but I put the heating on, I made myself a pot of tea, rifled the buscuit tin and just sat in the cockpit watching the sun go down. Complete contentment. I stayed about an hour then left for home, a round trip of over 200 miles

We moved to the Med the year after and had seven wonderful years there but that winters day remains one of my fonest memories of owning a boat

Out of interest and a slight thread drift, do they have 24hour security i.e. a staff onsite at all times or is it just a security gate, also what are the toilet/shower facilties like? similar to shamrock quay? Your earlier post on cost savings got my attention.

Gary, are you pulling the legs off this weekend? I hope to see a full video diary please.

sounds like a good idea does that. Can you pm me your mobile and I'll give you a call. Hoping to get down tonight to beat this weather front coming in.

Our Tinkerbell is now a mobo!
We had her mast taken down today so they can sort out some bits on it. Was a very odd feeling motoring back to her berth with no mast. She just looks like an odd shaped mobo!

She also has no side windows...

However, still fun to pop down and get on with jobs. Got some new LED strip lights installed over the last couple of weeks. Next week is solar panel installation week. Better get some warm gloves!

I hear there were many complaints of excessive wash in your neck of the woods / water today ;)
