Shotley - Water Level

Looking at the Shotley web cam today the level inside the marina looked very high and was washing over the top of the lock gates.

So is it often like that or someone has eaten all the pies and is onboard? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

A v good spring does wash over the top in my experience especially if there is anything of a jallop. I have done a freeflow entrance there which is really handy and a bit like zipping through roadworks with people waiting the other end.

Any tide much above 3.8 m will have the same effect. Extensions to the lock gates?

About time the marina was dredged again.

As said above, the lock gates regularly top over....

Can't say i've found the depth a problem, so not sure about dredging.... there is a shallow spot in the aisle between C & D, but its still 2.5m at LW Spring... not sure how shallow it gets at the far end though.... not heard anybody complaining about it....

Rather than raise the lock gates, i'd rather they put in another set.... but think thats perhaps a tad optimistic!
