Shotley Lock Closure

That's a very short time for it to be closed, they're an amazing bunch at Shotley, how on earth they do so much work to the lock in so little time is beyond me; they put customers top of the list for satisfaction.

See, you don't get quality lock closures like this at Southwold :playful:

Another bonus with a lock closure is that we get to keep the riff-raff from other marinas out too, some of them like to come here and look at our Velux roof lights :)

Keep the riffraff out? I think you mean in :nonchalance:. I heard they were building search towers, large concrete walls, anti vehicle trenches, fakir beds, etc to stop the undesirables leaving.

That was the old plan. We came up with a better one, we sent all of the undesirables to Haven marina.

A marina without a lock is a sad place, starved of good customer-service. Only Shotley has a lock and only Shotley shuts its gates to prove just how important the customers are.

Has anyone ever written a song for Shotley? There should totes be one, it's an amazeballs place.

Haven and Neptune both have locks. The marinas on the Thames also have them and their customer services far outstrip those of Shotley. They love their customers so much that they have cills and tidal windows and they work office hours. There are many times when their customers are protected from riff-raff visitors for days or even whole weekends throughout the year.

Then there are those tidal harbours and rivers with bar entrances where the customers could be holed up for lengthy periods in bad weather. Of course, these aren't always good for customer services as the riff-raff could be trapped in there with you.
