Whats the latest views on the Shipwreck and the Bristol arms? Planning on visiting the Orwell soon and Shotley is on my list, as usual, but for the first time this year. Thanks!

Ahh, the perennial question.....

Levington - Ship Inn is resurrected but not seemingly to the old quality standard that milady and I enjoyed a few years back.

A sailing friend visited the Bristol Arms last week and advised it is a lot cleaner than it used to be and the Adnams and food pretty good.

He also advised the Alba (Harwich) was good although I wasn't overly impressed when I visited on Good Friday but it was extremely busy so perhaps I am being a little harsh to judge.

The Bristol Arms was taken over by a young couple towards the end of last year. I've visited twice since then and the food has been excellent on both occasions, first time as a party of four then as a party of eight. Some items on the menu are on the pricey side but having talked to the chef and his wife on both occasions they are trying to do quality food and not just "pub grub"

I haven't eaten in the Shipwreck for some time but some members of my YC did recently and said the food was "reasonable" for the price............. I believe, from what they said, that prices have reduced from what they were a couple of years ago.
