Whilst doing anode and rope cutter checks yesterday, I found the cutlass bearings for both shafts were shot with 1/8" play in the bearings!

Is 530 hours reasonable for cutlass bearings to wear out?

reckon that pretty quick Piers. Just lifted the F36 for antifoul etc, cutlass bearings fine. I've done 1000hrs in her and and she probably had some hrs on these bearings already.

Also bear in mind she is a school boat so apart from the daily passages, she does loads of fwd/reverse manouvers boat handling too.

I have the same problem, 400 hours on my ne3w ones and they are shot, they shoulod last 1000's of hours, but it depends of course on how much silt is in the water.
