It beats me why companies don't add a short video clip which could be cheaply put on a DVD to explain how the product should be assembled. For instance assembling a new furling system for a headsail, changing thru hull fittings, re-wiring a mast, repairing a teak deck the list could go on and on. The products cost enough so I think something more should be done to ease the pain for the punter. Ok you pick up a few tips along the way but thats the point, thats not the best way to learn. Perhaps if people got together and demanded something like this the chandlers would take notice. I consider myself handy enough but I still fall far short of what would be termed a highly skilled craftsman. Or maybe something is already out there. And yes I have Nigel Calders book. What you think?

Crewsaver

...already do.

Their lifejackets come with a disk showing how to replace the mechanism and the manner of deployment and operation in the water. The latter is re-assuring to new crew being given the quick familiarisation tour when they first come on board or beforehand at home. Bit like the airlines' "Safety Features of this Boeing 757-200 series aircraft" video!
