Just got back from a very enjoyable few days. Left Barry on Sunday with a very full wind from the SW and soon had a slab in. Tacked off the Foreland and managed to lay Combe.
Tuesday across to Lundy picked up a mooring marked "Warden" and paid visit to local for several pints.
Wednesday was to be Tenby, but when within 10miles forecast
was giving E..SE 4 to 5 occ 6 not the place to be when wind in that direction. Diverted to Swansea, but a bit of a plug aginst the tide and the Easterly. Left Swansea today (Friday) and ended up motoring to Barry. All in All a great few days.
Andy was along side a pontoon in Swansea.

Sounds like a great week!

We have the 1st week off in September, seeing Madonna in Cardiff on the Saturday night and then off on a similar trip, so far we have only been to Watchet.
Aiming to go there Sunday and Monday nights and from there maybe Lundy? Be OK if we can pick up a bouy, don't really trust the anchor for an overnight!
Then I guess Swansea? Is there anywhere else we can go in a mobo that won't take the ground?

HI
From Lundy go due North and pick up a visitors mooring in Tenby, you will stay afloat.. As long as the wind is not in the E or SE Tenby is great. Nice beach, plenty of places to eat. Hope you have calm seas and sunshine.

Could always go to Milford Haven, Dale, Neyland. There is a seagull fouled floating pontoon at Dale to tie up to.

But why the fear of anchoring?? Get a recognised make of the right weight, some or all chain, and you will be just fine. Get some confidence by using it for lunch stops at first.

Thanks for the input, will practice anchoring during the week, but somewhere where there is an alternative to start with!
Tenby is high in the list as spent loads of holidays there in the past.
If they have visitors bouys that is great. Will check out Dale also, see whats about.

Cheers again
