Afternoon all,

Quite potentially a very silly question, but does shore power charge the batteries or just enable you to run things on the boat without the batteries draining? I know about as much about electrics as my nan knows about the internet...

Cheers,
Dan

You can run mains equipment which can include a battery charger.

Some battery chargers are specifically designed to supply power to the DC system while also charging the battery.

An expensive option but there are shore power units which include a built in battery charger.

Shore power just supplies mains onboard, if yo connect a battery charger you get battery charging, and normally it will supply boats DC load rather than the battery.

But very much what yo have and what you fit.
