At the moment i have a shore power connection fitted in Germany,Its a 2 pin socket thing(id post a pic if i was clever enough)anyway, can anybody tell me what type of socket i will need in good old blighty?

Thanks Keith,But what end is this? is this the boat side?
[/ QUOTE ]
It's the marina end. No reason at all to change the boat end. Best to check that you have the polarity right after you have made up your new lead.
You can buy a polarity checker for about £10 in any good electrical suppliers. They normally have three little dots and if everything is ok you get 3 green dots. If there is a fault it tells you what the fault is. It plugs straight into a 3 pin socket ( square pin).

No, the boat end is male, the shore end is female so there are no exposed live pins.
[/ QUOTE ]Oh dear, better tell all the marinas I have been in they have their plugs and sockets mixed up - not to mention all the boat owners.
Recepticle on the shore is "female" - no exposed pins
Plug that fits the recepticle is "male" (shore end of lead) - pins but not live until inserted into the recepticle
Boat end of lead is "female" - no exposed pins
Receptical on boat is "male" - pins but not live until the boat end of the cable is connected.
