Shopping in Singapore

I'm stopping in Singapore of 24hrs on route to New Zealand - anyone know where to get cheap marine goods from a reputable dealer – looking for a DCC VHF set in particular.

Lots of leccy dealers in Orchard road. Better than shopping malls. Smaller dealers more open to haggling than bigger department store types.

Can't say for Singapore, except fabulous airport, seemed pricy to me compared to catching a cab across the causeway to Jahor Baru, Malaysia? Everything is about 25% the price over there, for the sake of a 30minute cab ride and a customs check?? Surely the manufacturers wil be able to give you an outlet in that city for what you want? Lovely people there too. Paul

I am there at the moment, crappy weather but as you say very nice people.
Cant help with any suggestions other than J.B. will most certainly cheaper.

Good and bad news so far - I wonder if anyone has purchased anything by internet or mail order from over there and still has the address.
