Shonky Old Apelco Radar

My Apelco radar has just started to show a lot of noise in the 0 - 90 degree quadrant.

Does anyone know what is the most likely source of this? i.e., is there probably a corroded slip ring in the scanner? Are there any high energy components up there after the power is disconnected? Thanks!

Don't know if you have the manual, may not be of much help Here I would be inclined to look at the scanner slip rings etc. as only in one quadrant. Sorry but can't really be of any more help.

Thank you Alex. It must have been something like a slip ring as it cleared itself after an hour or so's use.

On another issue, a search for a new LCD had been on the back burner because of very poor contrast. I just discovered that if the unit is tilted as far back as possible the apparent contrast improves radically. Hopefully that may help some other antique user.
