I asked on the forum a little while back if anyone knew where to get SHOM charts. Well, I got mine and I thought I owed you all a short report back. Basically they are great. I got the "L" leisure versions which seem to cover the same areas but are slightly coated. The list price is 18.00 EUR but with VAT and carriage they work out about 23 EUR each (About 15-16 GBP).

They are in standard colors (unlike Imray) and have standard symbols.

*All* the textual abbreviations are in English (such at RWG, even such as "Bell" and "Whis"). In fact they would be quite hard to use for a non-English speaker.

The coating makes them much more durable than UKHO leisure charts. It also makes then scan clear and bright (for Seaclear nav package - by the way scanning is a pain, even with a large format scanner!)

Got mine from Librairie Maritime Outremer Le Yacht. (google it). They also speak English on the phone and are really helpful.
Took about a week.

I always get SHOM charts as the charted area is always much more practical. Buy a SHOM chart of Corsica, for example, and it will show the entire island on one chart. The Admiralty charts always contrive to chop of a crucial bit of an island, forcing you to buy two charts.
