As at least 3 people have posted that the Shipwrights Arms is under new Management and offering a much friendlier service is seems disengenuous to continue the old thread. So I've started this one for people to continue the discussion.:)

The old one seems to have drifted away into a group rant against DFLs by the Cornish Liberation Army........

We're looking forward to trying the Shipwrights, if only the weather would let us sail that far west.... Last time we tried it before the new management we were very unimpressed.

PS for connoisseurs of grumpy bar staff, the Devonport in Kingsand is a must. However, their faces did crack briefly when our labradoodle, under the misapprehension that she was in the Folly, danced on a table......

You and Boatbuilder are both right, but up till a couple of weeks ago the staff attitude had survived the change of management.

Thats a shame, I go there quite regularly (as it's sort of my local) and found the service to be good and friendly.... but then again I know most of the staff. I hope you have a better experience when you go next :)

We go there quite often. The setting, the food and the access by road or water are all worth more than an occasional scowl from behind the bar. We're quite thick skinned, really.

It is now FANTASTIC - pontoon, great food, amazing decor by Vicky - well worth a visit - probably my favourite pub now in the SW.
