Need a Matress Topper and a Spinnaker Pole

Has anyone used either of the above for said items? opinions/feedback all helpful...

I bought a shaped duvet from Shipshape Bedding. When I started using it, six months later, it seemed a little cold, so I weighed it and compared it with the filling weight specified on the label. It had around half as much filling as it should have had. When I contacted Shipshape Bedding they said "Tough. We stopped using that manufacturer a while back. You can have a discount voucher." Despite prompts, the discount voucher never arrived.

In retrospect, of course, I should have complained to Trading Standards. I will never, ever buy from them again.

I find a standard duvet from John Lewis does fine, I can tuck the spare bits over or under.

Spinnaker poles are always inordinately expensive for what they are, I have a kit one from the long gone IYE but even that was pricey; I would guess Sailspar would be better value than most; 01206 251348 - no connection just impressed by their helpfulness.

If by "Sailing School and Rigging" you mean the one in Brightlingsea, then I've known Craig since we were kids. He knows his stuff (he worked for SailSpar and Z-spars for many years) and his prices are keen.

I've known Craig for about 18 months and he did the new standing rigging for my A22 - it's still up and was a good price. I'd certainly recommend him

In contrast we've recently given Shipshape a large order and had nothing to complain about. I can't comment on whether the duvets are as specified but they seem fine for us. We don't actually use the V-shaped one to sleep under though as the foot is just too narrow with two in the V berth so its just for show. We have an ordinary Tesco duvet in a cupboard! But we have a 'narrow' shipshape duvet on the transom double berth and no problems. Also custom sized sheets and protectors all round which fit and work very well.

Cheers

A home sewing machine, scissors and some time can make shaped duvets and covers for a fraction of the cost of the specialists, no special skills required.
