I have recently tried a duvet which I bought from Shipshape bedding a year ago. It doesn't seem nearly as warm as I'd expect - it's labelled as 10.5 TOG - and it's not as heavy as the label says either. At 675g / sq m it should weigh 1.5kg but in fact weighs only 1kg.

Can anyone possible confirm how much a definitely 10.5 TOG one of these should weigh? It's the V-berth, narrow foot shaped one, as here.

I'm wondering if they have sent me a mislabelled 4.5 TOG duvet by mistake.

duvets vs. sleeping bags...

hmmm we tried duvets and gave them up in favor of 4 camping quality sleeping bags -we carry 2 summer weight polyfill bags and 2 down bags for zero degrees. amazing how the zero bags get the most use in the spring and fall -- of course down bags are not worth a pittance if they ever get wet.... but so luxurious on a cold night . for more luxury, get the ones that zip together..

Same here, tried mummy shaped sleeping bags but no room to turn over. Tried duvets, too cold and bulky on a 31 foot boat. Ended up with expensive oblong sleeping bags which really suit us on board. I think they were in the £40 range but money well spent for a good nights sleep.
