Well I won't be sailing now until 2012 so the log book is closed for the year. Live Magic and I managed just under 400NM in 2011 despite never leaving the Solent
Best trip was Cowes back to Chichester harbour on a single tack at 4-5kt all the way in beautiful sunshine.

What did you and your boats manage this year?

I managed about 340 miles. Plymouth to St Peter port and back, Plymouth to Cowes (via Salcombe, Dartmouth, Weymouth and Lymington. I don't count the miles from Cowes to the Hamble due to the collision that wrote the boat off. I guess you had the better season! Here is to 2012.

I don't log the miles, so can't post a number.

The trip to Cherbourg was definitely a highlight though. Only wish there had been a little more wind.

We had a pretty good season with just shy of 800M in the log book. This included passages to Dublin, a couple to ports in IoM, Belfast Lough and many around the anchorages of Anglesey. I also crossed the Channel for the first time, too, Portsmouth to St Vaas in a charter boat.

Most memorable was an overnight passage from Douglas to Ardglass. SWMBO asleep, calm sea, clear skies, excellent viz, coffee on the hour and only an ipod for company. Bliss.

This year Minnie, the yacht that thinks it's a narrowboat, did an estimated 60miles on the Lancaster Canal.

About half of the mileage was north, the rest south. Ports of call to the south included The Hand and Dagger and, err, that's it. To the north they included The Old Tythe Barn and Guys. Thrilling, really.

Probably about 2000, most of it there & back on the summer cruise to the Baltic. I think we have nearly sailed our boat round the world in miles and must check.

500 miles to Helford and back, but the best bit was single-handed down wind Portland to Torquay on a sunny Saturday... come to think of it that might have been the only fair weather sailing I did this year.

985. Just short of the magic 1000 that I always think marks a proper season. Too much work. Too much weather. Some memorable cruising when I did squeeze two holidays in though. Alderney,Guernsey, Sark, Jersey as staging points for St Cast, Saint Quay, Perros, Ploumanac'h, Brehat, Trebeurden. The quality of those craggy anchorages and some storming sails on the way in and out made up for the quantity of missed weekending! Had a play with capturing some of the more memorable bits in the blog http://allatseawithstargazer.blogspot.com/ (not sure why that link didn't paste in). Writing the experiences down was almost as good as living them in the first place - worth a go over the winter if you haven't tried it. Even if no one reads it. Good therapy until the cruising starts again.

2011 has not been a good year for mileage.
Only 635 Nmiles logged.
Only once across to the continent due to bay weather at the end of May.

2009 we launched in late May and managed 875 Nmiles with no North sea crossings but a trip to St Kats.
In 2010 we clocked up 890 Nmiles with 2 North Sea crossings including a "mast up" trip to Brugge.

2011 was just a wet and windy year.
Lets hope that 2012 is a bit better.

Merry Christmas to all.

The St Peter Port trip was my highlight as well! More than doubled my mileage in the Hawk.

Thanks.

Little Roundtop managed just 18 miles this last summer, Agios Nikolaos Marina to Spinalonga Island and back - once!

We've had a very lazy time staying in the marina this year - all sorts of reasons though. How I wished I was stuck in a traffic jam on the M25......... :D

Sounds like heaven David. This year, due to weather and work, I only managed 270nm's. 1 trip to Holyhead and a few trips up and down East coast of Ireland.....Next year I wil do better !! :)

2011 - good year.
not totted up but 1600nm+, 1000 of which was a jaunt from Portsmouth to Holyhead and back. Favourite moment - feeling cold wet and a bit miz as it was a right pissy night passing St. Ives but instantly made magic by dolphins silhouetted by the phosphorescent algae as they zoomed round Siri.
Worst - Every time the wind died and I had to start the motor.

Still can't decide if the weather was good for sailing or bad. Certainly felt that most of 6 weeks I was off that the wind was a bit all or nothing.

About 900nm. Best was doing the Round the Island Race, passing the finish line and carrying on to St Malo - owner had said the dropoff was Poole, none of us had passports. Worst was crewing on a guys Yachtmaster exam, his nerves turned him in to a jibbering idiot. Biggest learning experience, getting caught in a Meltemi.

Have not got my log book with me but from memory just over 2000 miles, most of that the trip from Amerimar to Greece. Lovely season, looking forward to next, either to Crete or circumnavigating the Peloponese, whichever it will be a leisurely season.

1051 miles, Lymington to Svineviken, West Sweden via Harwich and Kiel, with pottering around in Germany and Denmark on the way.

Very satisfactory sailing season. Right at the start of the season back in the Solent we set the target of getting to the yard where we had arranged to lay up in on 21 September and we kept the appointment. Pilots have a saying: "Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing", and I reckon any cruise you can finish in the place you planned and still look forward to the next time is a good cruise.

So very happy with the season. Just started planning the crew rotas for 2012. We are hoping to make it to the Cruising Association rally in Travemunde in August exploring more of Denmark and Sweden en route.
