For some time now i have been looking for a ships lifeboat as the basis for a conversion project. It would seem that until comparitively recently these boats were fairly readily available from shipyards and breakers at very reasonable prices. However, my search for a suitable hull has so far proved fruitless. I have only recently come across this forum and wondered if any reader may be able to point me in the right direction. Any information regarding a source for lifeboats of any size or type, and preferably of timber construction , would be greatly welcomed.
Many thanks in advance,
Huw Williams

There is a timber one, unconverted, in relatively good nick, sitting in the Ferry Dock at Woodbridge. I believe I am right in saying that John Crossman, who used to own Dusmarie, brought it back to Britain, hoping to interest people in racing them, but this did not come to pass. It had a good cover over it for years but I notice this has now given up the ghost (just recently). I would suggest enquiring of Frank Knights Ltd. whose phone number might be 01394 382318
