charlies' bithday, in case you didn't know, hence anthem quite right and proper, and not in the slightest bit tongue in cheek.

Allegedly he'll be playing Kiss-catch with members of his staff.

"INCOMINGGGGGG"

"tongue in cheek" .. watch what your saying .. you don't want to get accused of innuendo! Ask an innocent question and look what happens .. think I'll ring all my mates and get them to gang up on you .. there's lots of them you know!!

Tape

Once taped a 1am forecast, 'Sailing By' and all, which started, "There are warnings of Gales and Severe Gales in: Viking; North Utsire; South Utsire; Forties; etc., etc., etc.; Shannon; Rockall; Malin; Hebrides; Bailey; Fair Isle; etc, etc..." followed by horrors of area forecasts.
Wharra hoot (for me!) any time I could sureptitiously slip it into the player when a gang of us fell into the boat after the pub. Apres Puff Inn, St Kilda, was my favourite.

Re:mmm

Dead calm up here.. Moray Firth like glass.. errr should we expect a hoolie or not?

<hr width=100% size=1>

Re:mmm

It's about 5 knots here (Clyde). Baro bottomed at 993 for 4 hours, up to 995 in the past 2. Same baro pattern here and at Abbotsinch (NE 5 knots) and Prestwick (Calm!) so it's not moving very much. Not a lot happening. Much more at Aldergrove. I think the centre's passing over Cumbria and there's a bit of ridge filling up between here and Iceland.
Short answer: Hoolie up here - doesn't look like it.

Re:mmm

I've been walking in Langdale today with a group of students - it just rained but no real wind to talk about - its blowing a bit now I'm back near Fleetwood

Easy life for some

Cor, could I become a lecherer and get paid for a days walking?

Suppose they all needed pulling up by their bootlaces.

Gales

The forecasts I dislike are the ones that start "There are gales in all areas except ......"

Even worse, of course, when they leave out the bit about "except".

Oh Johnnyboy - you could have done once - but don't you think your age is just running against you a bit now?

Last time I got the shipping forecast at BBC 4 - about 2 weeks ago - They were playing Rule Britania and For He's a JOlly Good Sailor among other tunes which were mixed together
