I am contemplating shipping our Westerly Falcon from Greece back to the UK, or anywhere in Northern Europe within striking distance of Scotland. Does anyone have any previous experience or knowledge of this? If so I would be grateful for any ideas, info, recommendations or WHY.

No direct experience, but have talked to a number of folks who have. Almost all the boats being delivered to Greece are trucked to Slovenia, usually Izola and then sailed down the Adriatic (thats how mine was delivered). Therefore there are plenty of empty trucks looking for return loads. I understand the going rate to a channel port is about £2.5K. There are a number of specialist boat transport firms that advertise in PBO etc which will be agood starting point.

For our 38 footer we have been quoted £ 2500 from South of France and £ 4500 from Slovenia.

What type of boat is that for, and would you mind disclosing the company that gave you the quotes?

Many thanks to all who have given information. So far my own researches have shown prices (inc.Vat.) from £5000 to £15000. Clearly I haven't been looking in the right places.
