Looks like I will have a day to spend in York in June. I doubt the Jorvik centre will take all day /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Any good shipchandlers where I can go browsing?
Not really I'm afraid, only the "hut" at Naburn marina which carries an extensive range of service parts for Jabsco toilets.
There's plenty to do though; for anyone remotely mechanically minded the National Railway Museum is a must. If you really want to get a fix on the water then take the Waterline Leisure lunchtime (or Evening) cruise to the Ship Inn at Acaster Malbis. A lovely cruise down river and you will learn where old river cruisers go to die /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Chandlers at Naburn still open, not much in tho.Dont forget to go on the York "EYE" next to railway museum. Museum free.Pity you cant get a ride down on the R. Ouse to Selby to see what a mismanaged River full of debris is really like!! Super city York if you want to go to Norvik Centre go about 4pm as most of the queue,s have gone.
She suggests the various museums and art gallery, the railway museum, the model railway, the Minster, the shops in the Shambles, the "wheel"... a mini version of the London Eye, river cruises including hiring self drive boat, Possibly excursions outside York. She warns that the Jorvik centre is a bit crude/rude in places... the sorts of things little boys enjoy.
She adds that one of the most important is the city wall. Either walk round or take an open top bus tour.
