Ship Launch

As a teenager I used to go sailing on Castle Semple Loch with the 29th Glasgow Sea Scouts. Being all nice middle class boys from the south side of Glasgow we were very gentle with the boats, and launching was a delicate business of launching trolley.s

Not so the Sea Cadets who also sailed - or, rather, rowed, there. Their battery grey boat would be carried to the water's edge, then the commanding officer would call "Right, let's give it a Govan Shipbuilders. One, two, three ..." and they'd throw it sideways into the loch.

We were scared of them.
