Bought a smart laptop for use on the boat, it's a nice light Sony Vaio, I also bought a special 3D fish screensaver BUT I couldn't see it in the light out there! Any ideas wher I could put it? I have had power points put all round the boat, well in the cuddy and by the steering wheel area, this can be powered from the boat, if that fails the battery booster pack, or if that fails the generator, or if that fails I have spare laptop batteries. I use a Garmin 176C but thought it would be nice to have a bigger screen to see the Atlantic Blue charts on, works well in the cuddy but I don't yet have autohelm. The jukebox software works fine linked to the CD player, which saved me getting a CD changer, and the DVD's are great, so not all a waste of money. By the way was anyone else getting fuzzy reception on their TV in the marina at Mercury, may have been my depth guage. I have seen Satelite Sky systems, quite expensive but are they worth it, and where would I mount the dish?

Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. Was impressed with the windlasses, I am looking into that but the dealer reckons there would be too much weight on the bow. May see if they have one that fires the anchor out as my Dinghy got so mucky taking Col's anchor out to drop for him, a firing mechanism is the way to go I think, point and shoot, easy!

Re: Not a wind up

and he did his best to take Col's 15kg Bruce attached to 8mm 3/8ths chain as far as he could in his inflatable tender - got further than I thought he would before he had to give up the uneven battle

I got the TV from Stingo, works well at home and with the DVD on the boat, but the TV signal at the marina is not too good, guess it's DVD's in marinas then. BUT the great 'Stingo' TV has the outlet sockets to link into the CD system for surround sound, not too difficult in a 6' by 4' cuddy though /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif Mind you for what I paid for all this gear, it's only the price of a spare prop on one of the real boats that were there, so a bargain /forums/images/icons/wink.gif Only joking about the Sky dish though, don't want any more holes in my deck /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Sabden Treacle Mines have just closed down. They only employed bald men so they could let them down the shaft with the sucker, Search on google for Sabden Treacle Mines.

You must be having a laugh, I sent it Friday, has the pony been passed yet, perhaps it is the steep cobbly hills that is slowing it down /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif Ok I will cancel the cheque tomorrow morning, I will keep Forbsie's flag, it's very nice.

Down south here we have Tovil Treacle Mine, just a biscuits' toss from the upper Medway. It's not on the web 'cos it's a closely guarded secret, so don't tell anyone...
