Ship causes damage at Burnham

Seems a large Dutch fishing vessel modified Priors jetty.Skippers comment
"well it was rotten anyway"!
Seems to be having trouble manoeuvring ,good job there arnt many yachts on the moorings too.:eek:

Glad I'm not o the swinging mooring at the moment. The Priors pontoon was perfectly okay last time I used it. Maybe the insurance will give us a nice spanking new one for next season!

I couldn't spot any damage to Prior's jetty today, but the BSC one looked a bit modified.
Must admit only a perfunctory butchers was carried out. [from the White Harte window]

The jetty was the derelict one behind the Harbour Masters office. It made quite a mess of it and a pile just down river to which it was also tied, 3 people on board but did not stir until the jetty collspsed into the river,it certainly went with a bang.
The fishing boat slid down the mud after the bow line pulled down the pile but was still held by the stern line to the wall and breast line to the jetty, as the stern line snapped the boat slid down the mud taking the jetty with it.
I believe the boat that came to its aid as the tide made had a coming together with an underwater obstruction just upstream and I last saw them tied together laying between the houseboats and the marina entrance. Both had gone by Friday morning.
Certainly made the morning dog walk very interesting.
