SHE\'S JUST ABSOLUTELY DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. , MANY PIX
That’s right, she’s drop dead gorgouos. She may be a little middle aged but she’s still the Belle of the Ball, in my humble opinion of course.
Who is, I hear you mutter. Well I will tell you right now. I am referring to Little Ship.
I was over on Anglesey last weekend for a few days doing my Drama Society competition thing and was staying with the Instructor of Great Renown, that Welsh git Kwacker, and as he was on the water teaching, I was offered time out on Little Ship. I had met Tom last year over here on the Isle of Man when he visited us, but had only been on board for a chat. So to be offered a leisurely cruise out along the Straits was like water to a thirsty man.
The sun was shining, as we that is he and me, set off through the lock and just after clearing the outer one, Tom stood aside and said Here you are, all yours,,,, or words to that effect dimly heard as I was in a distant place, and seconds later I was wheel in hand turning port down stream.
What a gorgeous lady she is. So utterly responsive to even one spoke of wheel, and though not as racy as her more ….how to describe them…flash plastic look alike modern ..well you know the style as well as I do boats, she is elegance personified, so well mannered, so .. oh I could go on and on about her. But enough. I tried to surrender the wheel at least three times, but it was always the same. ‘Keep that grin on yer face…etc, so I did,
We motored serenly down and then up the straits and even though the tide was now running ahead, we were still making about 4 kts on the GPS There is something so relaxing and calming about watching the scenery move past, and having time to enjoy taking in all the sights instead of hanging on grimly and getting bounced around. All in my humble opinion of course as stated previously. But on turning around at the Brittania Bridge the GPS immediately showed nearly 11 kts. That took us back to PDN far quicker than before.
So again my thanks to Tom for the most enjoyable outing
The next day was somewhat different, as I went out with Kwacker as he was still doing his teaching bit for the second of the two days course, as the Photographer of Record
I was collected at PDN and off we set. Talk about something entirely different. We did all the usual stuff like getting on and off pontoons, steering a course to a mark, fast and slow, then on to Caernarvon harbour to do getting alongside and three point turns , then out again to go alongside a pier with a full tide running and interesting it was. I even did the MOB thing by hurling a life ring over the side at thirty kts as a surprise to the man at the wheel. All a fiendish plan hatched beforehand Made me think of my learning curve about 65 years ago. Lastly we traversed the Swellies and back to the shore and onto the trailer to be hauled out.
Those RIBs don’t half go along!!!
So on to the photos.
Drop dead gorgeous....sigh!!!!
LittleShip at PDN
A sedate majestic pace
Nearing the Bridge
T'other side
Obbligatory wake shot
Ahead form the saloon
Yes she's just REGAL....
Then it was out with KWACKER
Waiting for him we met Phil (I thik )
then out we went, K working very hard!!
and still at it
AS we were toddliong about we saw a nut on a Jet ski tearing into the spped limited area at ahigh rate of knots, but the copper was onto him and started out
Charlie spotted him and did the fastest U Turn in the straits and vanished up stream in cloud of spray.
We went into Caernarvon to do some tricky bnits in confined spaces..but here's a couple of shots of the Castle
a bit contra jour on the approach
Tha's better
In the harbour
Where we saw Sea Rush
and out we went again....will it fit?
The other obligatory wake shot
And of course Me with that happy happy face.
To both Tom And Kwacker my grateful thanks for a wonderful time.
cheers
