Went to marina filled with good intentions, get engine de winterised and started up and fit a nice shiney new K&N filter I got for crimbo.

Struggled manfully joining about 200' of garden hose together and got water to the muffs. Put all the bungs back in, got a case of paranoia in case I forgot the transom bung, so put that in too, cranked her over to get the oil pressure up and the tappets tappeting, stopped cranking. Two big pumps on the throttle to prime and bruuuum, off she went nice as ninepence, all gauge needles exactly where they were expected to be and unlike last year, no clouds of smoke and banshee wailing as the belt cooked itself on a seized alternator pulley.

Feeling pleased with life in general, got the new K&N out the box, admired the chrome on the housing. gave it a lick to see if it tasted as nice as it looked (it didn't) and proceded to remove the old flame arrestor.

Bugger, spigot on carb is only 60% of the size of the hole on the filter so it don't fit.

Question: Had it bought, sez its for my motor on the box, but don't have the receipt. Is there a conversion plate you need to buy to make this filter fit the Mercruiser 2BBL carb or is it the wrong filter?

Thanks.
